Terms of use
Last updated April 2026.
By using Hush you agree to these terms. They exist so the service stays useful, legal, and fair for everyone who relies on it.
What Hush is
Hush provides informational lookups and message checks based on community reports and automated signals. Risk scores, tags, and explanations are there to help you decide what to do — they are not legal, financial, or safety advice, and they are not a guarantee that a number is safe or dangerous. Always verify anything urgent (banks, HMRC, NHS, family) through an official channel you opened yourself.
The product is under active development. Features, scoring, and availability can change. We will try not to break things carelessly.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Hush lawfully and in good faith. In particular you must not:
- hammer the APIs or automate scraping in a way that degrades the service for others;
- submit false reports to harass a person, business, or phone number;
- put unlawful, hateful, or abusive content in report notes;
- attempt to break into systems, other users' data, or our hosting beyond what ordinary use requires.
We may rate-limit, block, or remove content that breaks these rules. Serious abuse may be referred to hosts or law enforcement where appropriate.
Reports and accuracy
Reports are submitted by members of the public. We do not manually verify every entry. A high score means many people flagged something similar — it does not mean a court has found anyone guilty of fraud.
By submitting a report you confirm you believe it to be truthful to the best of your knowledge. You give us permission to store and display the report fields you submit (contact, category, optional note) as part of the public database behind the lookup tool.
Security
We serve the site over HTTPS, cap request sizes on APIs, and do not operate password accounts for the public product — so there are no Hush passwords for us to leak. If you find a vulnerability, please tell us privately first: see Security.
Liability
To the fullest extent allowed under English law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Hush, including decisions you make after reading a score or a community note. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded (for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
Intellectual property
The Hush name, branding, site copy, and software belong to the operator unless otherwise stated. You may link to the site freely. You may quote small factual snippets (for example a report count) with attribution where that is fair and honest.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If we need to resolve a dispute in court, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or abroad, mandatory consumer protections in your country may still apply where the law says they must.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product grows. The date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms. If we ever introduce paid subscriptions, we will surface billing terms separately before you pay.
